1. Carmelo Anthony
If the Lakers want to get the fan based hyped again, and bring in a guy who can score prolifically, then Melo is the guy to call. This really comes down to, do the Lakers want to build now to win now or win later. An offense with Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant, both players who love to play with the ball in their hands would spell disaster. Most would think that Melo would pose the best opportunity for the Lakers to win a ring, but I think the reverse would happen with the playing style of Kobe and Melo clashing more than being effective.
The second issue with a Melo to the Lakers deal, is it would leave the Lakers with hardly any money left to sign other free agents, most likely forcing them to sign veteran guys who will take smaller deals. Is it really worth it to give Melo a ton of money, and forgo the opportunity to get other good free agents?
The answer is no. Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant would sure bring some star power back to Los Angeles, but the fact of the matter is that even with a Melo and Bryant pairing, there is still another young pairing in Oklahoma City that still tops them, and they also have a stud third guy. so, the deal would be to bring back glam, but no bling at the seasons end.
