Coran Taylor is a 3-star quarterback out of Peoria, Illinois. Early this morning, he signed his letter of intent to the University of Illinois and official became a member of the Fighting Illini.
The announcement came on Twitter, with Illinois also sending a highlight tape that showed off Taylor’s explosiveness both with his arm and on his feet. He is a very talented dual-threat quarterback, and should add an extra dynamic to the Illini offense in the years to come.
Here is the tweet in which his decision was announced:

Illinois currently has a few younger quarterbacks on the roster, but it seems likely that Taylor will have the opportunity to compete early in his career for the starting job. He will also have the opportunity to play for a former NFL head coach, the well-regarded Lovie Smith, who is looking to strengthen the program in the long-run.
Even after a difficult 2017 campaign, the Illini have what could turn out to be a really strong recruiting class this year, as they will likely be hearing from two other highly-ranked recruits, Verdis Brown and Reuben Udije, today. These two hail from the same touted IMG Academy program and are both ranked in the top 500 nationally, according to 247Sports.
