Tonight, the UCF Knights women’s basketball team traveled to Cincinnati to take on a conference competitor. The Knights came into the matchup on a 3-game winning streak, and sought to continue to build on momentum.
Key players played heavy minutes in this one, with 5 players accounting for 89% of the total minutes played. One such player was forward Masseny Kaba, who registered a team-leading 39 minutes on the night. That wasn’t the only stat she led the team in, however.
Kaba also posted 14 points (tied team high on the night) in her 39 minutes and coupled that with a whopping 18 rebounds (team high), 8 of which came on the offensive end (team high). This was the first time Kaba reached a double-digit rebound number since December 13th. This is also her first double-double of the season. Incredibly, she nearly matched the rebounding efforts of the entire Cincinnati team, as the Bearcats only posted 21 rebounds collectively.
This incredible performance is the latest development in the team’s rise as of late. They’ll look to build on these efforts in their upcoming game with Memphis on February 3rd and then when they take on the top team in the country, the undefeated UCONN Huskies, on February 7th in Orlando.
