MBB: Castleton Defeats Lyndon State 87-70

The Spartans Move to 11-9 on the Season

The Castleton Spartans are a division three athletic program located in Castleton, Vermont.  Today, their basketball team faced off with a fellow Vermont college, Lyndon State, and emerged victorious.

They team’s offensive output was the key factor in this game, and was led by balanced scoring that resulted from a wide disbursement of playing time. 11 Castleton players played over 10 minutes, and 13 different players recorded points.

Sophomore guard Jordan Nelson contributed in a big way, eclipsing his season averages in points (9.3) and assists (3.0) with 13 points on 100% shooting from the field coupled with 5 assists on the night. He, along with fellow guard Tondi Mushandu, who matched Nelson’s point output with 13 points of his own, helped lead Castleton to the 17-point victory.

Next up for the Spartans is the Green Mountain College Eagles, who are currently on a three-game skid. That matchup will take place on February 3rd.
